Welcome to

The Brazilian Committee of Rock Mechanics, part of the Brazilian Association of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering and the ISRM National Group, is honored to invite you to the 10th Latin American Rock Mechanics Symposium (LARMS 2026), which will take place from August 26 to 28, 2026, in Brasília, Brazil.

The theme of LARMS 2026 is: “Rock Mechanics for a Sustainable Future: Innovating in Mining, Energy, and Infrastructure.”

Key points include:

2026 marks the 10th edition of this prestigious symposium. The previous event, held in Asunción, Paraguay, in 2022, was a significant milestone, uniting students, professionals, researchers, and academics dedicated to advancing rock mechanics in Latin America. LARMS 2026 promises to continue this legacy, fostering collaboration, innovation, and knowledge exchange among experts in the field. LARMS 2026 will be held alongside the XXII Brazilian Congress on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, which attracted over 2,000 participants in 2024.

Why Brasília?

Brasília, the capital of Brazil, is an architectural and urban planning masterpiece designed by Oscar Niemeyer and Lúcio Costa. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the city boasts iconic landmarks such as the Metropolitan Cathedral, Palácio da Alvorada, and the Three Powers Square. Its climate in August is ideal, with temperatures between 15°C and 28°C, and the city is easily accessible through its international airport and extensive hotel network. Visitors can also enjoy Brasília National Park and the serene Paranoá Lake, offering both natural beauty and modern infrastructure.

We warmly invite you to join us at LARMS 2026 to engage with leading experts, explore the latest developments, and contribute to the evolution of rock mechanics in Latin America. Together, let’s innovate for a sustainable future!

Authorization to publish the full article in the LARMS 2026 proceedings and to include it in the technical database of CBT/ABMS/ISRM is mandatory during submission.
Only abstracts that fit the official thematic tracks listed below will be accepted. Once the track is selected during submission, changes will not be allowed by the author. However, the Scientific Committee reserves the right to reassign submissions to a more appropriate topic area if necessary.

Thematic Tracks

Questions about submissions should be directed to: secretaria@qeeventos.com.br
To download the template for full paper submission, click [here].

Please note: using the correct template and formatting is a requirement for final acceptance. This ensures high-quality presentation in the conference proceedings.

Important Notes

1. During submission, authors must carefully complete all required fields, including full title and author names. Incomplete or incorrect information may result in errors in the official certificates. Responsibility for accurate data entry lies with the submitting author. No post-submission edits will be made.

2. The uploaded file must not contain special characters in its name. Use only plain text for the file name—preferably the paper title, without accents or special characters such as “ç”, /, -, %, &, *, #, @. Inappropriate file names may prevent the file from being saved and evaluated by reviewers.

3. Only papers written in English will be accepted.

4. At least one author per paper must be fully registered for the conference by July 16, 2026. Only registered participants who are listed as co-authors will be allowed to present and publish the paper.

5. Each paper may only be submitted once. No edits will be allowed after submission.

6. Only complete papers will be accepted for submission. The final paper must be between 4 and 8 pages long. Submissions outside this range will be automatically rejected.

7. No commercial content is allowed in submitted papers.

8. All units must comply with the International System of Units (SI).

9. Accepted papers will be presented either orally or as posters, as determined by the Scientific Committee. Presentation guidelines will be provided after paper evaluations are complete.

10. All full papers will undergo a plagiarism and similarity check using specialized software. A maximum of 20% similarity (excluding references) will be tolerated.
